Whether you are a visitor from the other side of the planet, or from Mars, or just a local from Cape Town, you should get out there and enjoy this beautiful piece of the country. It is autumn in the Cape, leaves are turning red, yellow and orange; the weather is perfect. There are the few rainy days in between, but that is good, because everything gets washed clean. Everything, except for the autumn leaves are turning bright green. I had the privilege to visit the beautiful town of Franschhoek on Sunday.
We drove up the Franschhoek mountain pass with its spectacular views, had picnic for lunch on the highest point. We took photos, waved at the people passing us in the vintage cars and just enjoyed the fresh air and panoramic views.
We then drove to student town of Stellenbosch where we took the Jonkershoek road to where it ends. There we had coffee and scones at the restaurant and played a game of cards under the trees. What a joy! The Jonkershoek drive is a must in autumn. Make sure you don't miss it!
